Bongani Khulu has extensive leadership experience in the financial services industry in South Africa and across the rest of the continent, having worked on a diverse range of portfolios in the areas of wealth and investment management, retail banking, strategy formulation and implementation, strategic marketing, credit risk and analytics. His most recent position was the executive responsible for Strategy, CVPs and Business enablement across Absa Retail and Business Banking (including Insurance). Prior to this, he was the Head of the Absa Family Office business servicing UHNW and key clients. He also led Client Engagement and Business Development at Absa Wealth and Investment Management. Before joining Absa, Bongani spent a decade with the FirstRand Group, serving in various leadership roles in South Africa and across the continent. Amongst his qualifications, Bongani holds a Global Executive MBA from Instituto de Empresa (IE) Business School in Spain. He also holds BSc and BSc Hons degrees from the University of Pretoria. He is a previous recipient of the Mail & Guardian Top Young South African award, under the Business and Entrepreneurship category. He is also a member of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP), and a mentor to university students through ASABA (Association for South African Black Actuarial Professionals). Bongani also spent 2 years as a missionary across Southern Africa on community-based projects.
